Resource tagging allows you to create tags that can be applied to any resources you target. Some of the uses of resource tagging include grouping, tracking and scheduling your resources via particular tags. Tags are applied as key-value pair.
- A key is an attribute or category you can assign to a resource.
- The value is more granular data related to that attribute or category. The value is often not a mandatory field and can, in most instances, be left empty.

Finding resource tagging details for a cloud on Telstra Cloud Sight
On each row of a clouds on your 'Cloud services' page (home page), under the title 'Tagging', you'll see a label that tells if you've enabled or disabled this feature.
More details and additional functions can be found on the Tagging tab of your cloud details page. To get to the cloud details page, click on the cloud name on the 'Cloud services' page. This takes you to the details page for that cloud. Select the Tagging tab.

Before you use resource tagging on any particular cloud, you'll need to give Cloud Sight permissions to create tags on that cloud.

The details below are for clouds that have already given Cloud Sight permissions via your cloud's management portal (AWS console or Azure portal).
Select the Tagging tab.
On this tab you'll find two layers:
- Tag collections – the panels with the collection name, and alongside it, tags listed in the header. These are the tag collections you've created.
- Targets – the line items within the tag collections showing target names and statistics for the regions, resource groups and resource types. These are resources you're targeting with your schedule.
Note that creating a tag collection will not, in itself, be useful until you apply it to targeted resources.
You can add multiple targets to a tag collection. Please be aware of other tags that may overlap your targets as this may cause unintended results, depending on how you're using them.
